Jack and Terry chat alcohol, Ireland, and summer vacations. Amazing plans are made Terry'll probably only vaguely recall in the morning!

Terry was still on a high from how perfect that duet with Jay had been. She'd never met anyone who could sing like her, and that... that had been beyond words. Beyond everything!

And now she needed another drink, the flush from both alcohol and excitement high on her cheeks as she made for the table holding the unlabeled bottles of expensive liquor.

"I believe I have a new benchmark for the word 'incredible,'" Jack said to her, as he strode up, on the way to refill his cup as well. He grabbed the bottle of William Chase gin that he'd brought to the party and poured some into his glass.

Terry smiled brightly at him as she reached for - what else - the whiskey. "Warren had warned me Shinobi's parties were something. I'm not disappointed."

"It's certainly more enjoyable than most of the parties I've been to in my life, but that's not a difficult bar to jump over. Takes more of a hop, really," Jack said, grinning. "Any other plans to wow an audience tonight?" he asked.

"I'll see where the evening takes me," Terry replied, eyes glinting happily, and took a sip of whiskey. "I hadn't expected that duet, I'm only just after meeting Jay."

Jack grabbed a bottle of tonic water and gave his gin a few spritzes of it. Nothing like a good gin and tonic, he always said. He took a sip. "He's a great guy. I'm lucky to have him as a roommate," Jack said, earnestly.

"I didn't know you were roommates!" Terry beamed at him, but then lost her smile. "He's gone through so much. I'm glad he's got someone nice for a roommate."

"I can imagine," Jack said, not knowing anything about Jay's troubles but not wanting to pry. "And I'm glad to have him as a roommate. He doesn't mind how much space I take up and I don't mind the music in the background."

"So you're the Tessa of your room," Terry stated, then frowned. "No, it doesn't work. She doesn't take up much space at all at all. But for not minding the music!"

"I wouldn't know; I haven't had the pleasure of meeting Tessa," Jack said, smirking just a little. "But when describing it like that, I'd guess you'd say so, yeah." He got a glimpse of what she was drinking. "So you're a whiskey girl, eh?"

"It must be in my genes," Terry confirmed with a grin. Whiskey was the best.

"Nothing wrong with a good whiskey," Jack said, grinning back. Her grin was contagious. "I'm more of a gin guy myself, but I fully admit to imbibing anything of quality."

"Then you're in luck," Terry stated happily. "Shinobi's only bought top shelf!"

"Naturally," Jack said, grinning just a bit. "I had a bottle of William Chase brought in from London; it's my gathering drink of choice. I wasn't sure Shinobi had and I had the same taste in gin."

"And do you?" Terry knew very little about gin, never mind what gin Shinobi might have bought tonight. He had bought several bottles of whiskey; that was good enough for her. And it was good whiskey, too.

"No, I think he brought in something different, or maybe he skipped gin entirely. I'll admit; I'm biased. William Chase is the premier gin in the world, in my opinion. Makes for a wonderful G and T, and it's fine on its own, as well," Jack said, shrugging.

"Now I'm curious," Terry stated, and raised hopeful eyebrows. "Give us a taste?"

"Of course," Jack said. He hesitated offering his own cup. "Don't suppose you're phobic about partaking from someone else's cup? I could always mix you some, or pour some straight, if you'd prefer," he offered.

Terry replied by taking his cup, and a drink. Then wrinkled her nose, and handed it back. "I'll stick with whiskey, best gin in the world or not." Maybe she would like it better straight, though? She had to remember to try that at some point.

"Fair enough," Jack chuckled, taking his drink back and taking a sip. His mutation meant he didn't really get sick, which was nice. "So, are they all as pretty as you are where you're from?" he asked, cracking a grin. "Because if that's the case, I know where I'm headed for Christmas."

It was a sign of how much she'd been drinking that Terry did not actually blush at the compliment. She did giggle, though. "You should visit Ireland anyway. It's so beautiful."

"It's on the list, for certain," Jack said. "Maybe if I go, you could come with. Show me all the good spots that tourists don't know about."

"I ought to take Clarice - or, well, have Clarice take me," she corrected herself with a smile. "And show her around!" Fair was fair, and they'd been to the Bahamas, after all. "And... there was someone else." She frowned, but her brain wouldn't cooperate just then. The hazards of alcohol. It would come back to her. "You ought to come along! If Clarice is up for it."

"I wouldn't want to be a burden, or interfere with a girls' night on the town, but I'd love to see it, with either or the both of you," Jack said, nodding. "The more the merrier, I always say."

"I haven't got a clue what's her line for distance and people being burdens," Terry answered honestly. Hopefully this wouldn't be it.

"It must be interesting, being a teleporter. Then again, I'd be worried that I'd just daydream and pop up in random, inconvenient places," he chuckled. "Then again, at least it seems like you can always find your way home, which is nice," he said, taking a sip of his gin.

"Even when you don't mean to," Terry confirmed with a giggle, then explained. "We'd been drinking, and instead of bringing us back here, we ended up on a beach in the Bahamas. It's so beautiful," she said dreamily.

"That sounds like one of the best possible places to wind up on accident after some drinking," Jack said, chuckling.

"It is!" Terry said, absolutely biased. "The water was so nice, even at night."

"I bet," Jack said, a touch wistfully. "Maybe I'll have to use some of my pull to organize a vacation to Bermuda come summertime," Jack said, idly.

"Oh, can you imagine?" Terry said, beaming at the thought. "A whole group of us there! Mutants on the Beach. That sounds like it should be a band's name."

"Not a bad name for a band, you're right," Jack chuckled. "And it'd be a pleasure to arrange that kind of thing. It'd be nice, I think, if we could grab up a section of beach for a portion of the summer, so that even the kids with obvious physical mutations can kick back and relax without having to worry about those image inducer things."

"That'd be perfect! Mutants-only beach!" Terry nodded enthusiastically. "Is that actually feasible? Can you rent a beach?" She had no idea, and took another drink of whiskey.

"My family has a timeshare that has a private section of beach on it," Jack said, taking a sip of his gin after he spoke. "I could pull some strings. It's a big place, so if we brought, y'know, inflatable mattresses or cots or something, it'd work out."

"Now you know you have to make that happen," Terry stated with a bright grin. "I'll be wrecked if you don't!"

"I never could resist the desires of a beautiful girl," Jack said, grinning right back. "I'll do my very best."

Well, of course Terry leaned in to peck his cheek at that. It was such a sweet thing to say! "Thank you, Jack."

Jack accepted the peck with a grin. "Don't mention it. Chances are I'll be drowning in gratitude enough," he chuckled. He was nearing the bottom of his gin and tonic, and he considered getting a refill, but... "May I trouble you for a dance?" he asked, offering his free hand. "If you dance half as well as you sing, you'll be doing circles around me, so try not to laugh at my relative clumsiness."

"My mutation's no help with dancing, you're in luck," Terry told him with a smile. She put her hand in his, then knocked back the rest of her glass and set it down on a nearby table.

"Seems like I'm just lucky all around tonight," he said, giving her hand a gentle squeeze as he led her out to the dance floor, leaving his cup behind on the table.
