Two of the tough girls meet and compare notes on leather, fighting, and the Professor's ideas.

It was the leather jacket that caught Lil's attention. Lil had wanted one since forever, well maybe one with no fringe, but still, it was brilliant and it drew her in like a moth to a flame.

"'Scuse me," Lil said when she'd made her way to its owner, "but that is a kick-ass jacket."

Wynonna was never one to turn down a compliment, especially if it included the words 'kick ass'. And Jesus was this girl tall. And, uh, gifted. "Obviously you're a woman of fine taste--look at those pants!"

"Oh yeah." Lil looked down, then put a hand over her stomach. They were damn comfortable but ridiculously tight. "I can't take credit for those. A friend forced me into them - Not complaining though. "

"Good friend," Wynonna admired, throwing in a wink for good measure. Damn did she want leather pants now. Someone sign her up for that friend.

'Best friend, so far anyway." Lil tugged at the bottom of the halter top, then laughed. " 'Cept she put me in this too. Haven't decided whether I'm gonna forgive her for that yet."

"She wants to show you off--nothing wrong with that if that's what you want to," Wynonna responded with a shrug. It was a good outfit in her books.

"I guess so. I'm Lil by the way, Lil Crawley." Her new bracelets slid down her arm when she offered Wynonna her hand. More flashy stuff Tamara had picked out (and carefully dropped into her purse while the clerks were occupied elsewhere) for Lil.

Wow, a handshake. This chick was legit. Wynonna clasped her hand briefly as she nodded and said, "Wynonna Earp."

"Like the country singer?" It was a stupid question, but maybe she'd been named after her, and maybe, if Lil were very lucky, this Wynonna was a fan.

Wynonna blinked in surprise. Her town was backwater sure, but country music was something she only listened to in Shortys bar. “Same name I guess, different reason. Mama had a thing for Ws.” Maybe mama had been a country fan?

Too bad she walked out before Wynonna could ask her about her music preferences.

Oh well, it had been worth a shot. "A thing for Ws? That mean you have some brothers and sisters?"

"Sisters. Thank god not brothers," Wynonna answered, trying to joke it off even as her tongue struggled with the "s" on sisters.

"I think I prefer not having either," said Lil, oblivious to Wynonna's stumble. "Can't imagine what a fuss they'd be. "

"Touche," Wynonna shrugged. She would never give up Waverly for a million years, but hey, everyone's entitled to an opinion.

There was an awkward pause where Lil wasn't sure what to ask next. Being the one to prompt small talk was something she'd never been good at, but this was a school for mutants and heck, there was always one
question a person had up their sleeves.

"So, what can you do? Like, what's your power?"

"Super strength and agility, with a little magic gun thrown in," Wynonna answered her go-to, glad for the reprieve. Small talk was not her friend either. "And yourself? Besides being, like, an Amazon. Which, awesome."

Lil shrugged. "Eh, it's alright. But besides being a giant, I'm invulnerable. I'm sort of a one trick pony, but it's a good trick."

Wynonna let out a low whistle. "Definitely a good trick to have."

"Yeah, but super strength... Man, if I could have one more, that's what
I'd pick. So, can you lift cars and shit like that?"

"Y'know, I've never really tried to lift a car," Wynonna mused, thinking about doing just thought. I mean, Scott showed her where all the toys were kept. "But generally I can pack a pretty mean punch."

"You sound tailor-made for fighting." There was a bit of a wistful smile on Lil's face. That was one thing home offered that here hadn't so far - the opportunity to kick the ever-living shit out of someone.

Wynonna smirked and threw the taller girl a wink, "Can't say I haven't gotten into my fair share of fights."

Thank Jesus and everything holy. "Yeah, right. I'm betting it was more than a fair share. If you're any good, the fights seem to follow you."

Snorting, Wynonna replied, "Okay, you're right...might've taken on a little bit more than my share." After all, when you're the crazy mutant kid who killed your dad the townspeople didn't tend to like you very much.

Her stint in the Banditos hadn't helped her numbers much either.

"Eh, me too." Cherry always made sure of that. She'd stir up the shit, and then call in Lil to settle it back down again. "Mostly at parties, but a few at school. People thought I was better then I was 'cause I never had a scratch on me."

"Sure would've been nice to have that power during fights," Wynonna laughed with a smile.

"It's good as long as you finish 'em quick. Otherwise, people might start wondering and then, boom! everyone knows you're a mutant." Lil had often wondered why no one suspected back home, but then Lil was tall and brash and maybe after you get a certain reputation, people just expect you to walk away without being hurt.

Wynonna shrugged. She already got shit for being mutant, who cared if she added a helpful power to that? "True--good reason to get in and out quick though," Wynonna offered with a grin.

"Doesn't matter here though. I think I've only met one person I didn't much care for, and she wasn't gonna take a swing." Nobody else had a bad thing to say about Shen. It left Lil wondering whether the problem was with Shen, or her.

Wynonna could practically taste the drama. Intriguing. "I wouldn't want to take a swing at you either. I mean, you're cool so I wouldn't anyways, but still."

Lil let out a frustrated sigh. "Yeah, but it's not gonna hurt me. I'd like to know what I can take. I sorta thought that would be part of the whole deal here, but I haven't heard a word about it yet. I dunno, maybe punches are a whole lot more personal when they hurt, but I don't really give a shit."

"Does that mean you're gonna join the Professor's boy band?" Wynonna asked curiously. Sounded like this chick wanted to test out how far she could go.

"Yeah, and then my mom would kill me. Or close enough." But Wynonna had just made a connection Lil hadn't thought about. Certainly, there was some potential for fun in the X-Men... if she wasn't a kid who had school to worry about. "Besides, I'm fucking 16. I don't get the idea of this guy inviting here for safety's sake and then throwing us out to go fight bad guys. What about you?"

"Most things in life come at price," Wynonna mused with a shrug. Getting across the country had meant joining the Banditos--and the 'gang' part of 'motorcycle gang' wasn't just a cute way of saying posse. She wasn't too sure about this whole "school/child superhero" thing the Professor had going on, nor was she really sure that the other side was 100% wrong, but hey. Who was she to judge, really. "But I'm not really anyone's idea of a hero, so I think I'll think it over for a while."

"That's smart. No need to be making quick decisions on this. Some of the kids... " Some of them she wondered about. Maybe even worried for. Kids tended to get starry eyed anyway; give them powers and tell them go to save the world, and then you've got a special kind of trouble. "I don't know. It just seems skeevy."

"I mean--I know I make poor decisions, but I like to at least know I'm making them," Wynonna joked, forcing a grin.

Lil laughed. "Yup, I know exactly what you mean. I think the only good decision I've made lately was deciding to come here."

"Here here," Wynonna cheered, winking at the taller girl.

"Well, I think I'm gonna make the rounds and pretend I'm enjoying all this." Lil stuck out her hand for a goodbye shake. "But I'm in room 208 if you ever want to stop by."

What was with these kids and handshakes? Shaking her hand very briefly, Wynonna flashed her a smile and said, "Cool, sounds like a good plan man." And then made a face because damn she was lame. Still, she added, "Nice to meet you dude."
