Billy R and Ororo - Backdated

Billy and Ororo catch up when she comes back from Kenya.

"'Ro!"

And that was all the warning Ororo got before Billy Rocks launched himself down the staircase and swept her off her feet and into a back-popping hug.

"You're back!" Billy gave Ororo an ecstatic twirl. He set her down and stepped back, but didn't quite let go; his arms were still draped around her waist, even once he loosened his hold. "How was the trip? How was home? Did you get to see your mountain?" He was beaming, obviously thrilled at her return.

Ororo laughed at the flood of questions, keeping her hands on Billy's shoulders. "It's not mine, but I did. It was great. It was... revitalizing." She smiled, and squeezed his shoulders. "And how have you been, while I was gone?"

"I've been OK. I kept up my training, school is still school, and I went on a date with Goody."

Ororo grinned, clearly pleasantly surprised. "That sounds better than okay. Want to tell me about it over lunch?"

"Yeah, OK." Billy finally took a full step back, smile still in place. "Cafeteria or outside?"

"Outside," Ororo replied without missing a beat.

It wasn't long before they'd grabbed some food and found a nice spot on the grounds. Ororo kicked off her shoes to get comfortable on the grass, and smiled at Billy. "So. That date."

Billy pretended to be very interested in the brownie he'd snagged from the cafeteria. "So," he said, all teasing, "that mountain?"

Ororo laughed, and started eating. "Kilimanjaro is doing great. I had fun in its snow."

"How was the journey?" Billy's question was delivered with sincere interest. But perhaps that wasn't to be wondered at; he still hadn't seen all that much of the world, even with the trip to Busan taken into account. "Were you on your own the whole time?"

"I asked Clarice to pop me over," Ororo admitted with a purse of her lips. "I don't do well in tight spaces, so the fewer planes I have to take, the better." She'd brought the teleporter back some local food, to thank her.

Billy nodded and swallowed a mouthful of brownie. "It's how me and Goody got to Korea, too. I'd like to go on an airplane some day, though. Just... you know. Not for twelve hours the first time. In case I don't like it. What was the best part of the trip?"

"Ainet," Ororo replied with a warm smile. "My friend. I had missed our talks. We write to each other, but it isn't the same."

Billy felt a little curl of warmth just seeing the content expression on Ororo's face. "She's doing well?"

"Remarkably well, for her age," Ororo confirmed. She knew that wouldn't last forever, of course. Ainet wouldn't last forever, and Ororo wouldn't wish it on her. But she would be glad for all the time they had. "Things have settled down, since I left. It was the right move."

"That makes it better," Billy agreed. "Knowing it all worked out in the end. And I'm glad you're here, anyway."

"So am I," Ororo confirmed with a small smile. "Home is there, but it's also here." She grinned. "Now, are you going to tell me about that date?"

Billy laughed. "All right, all right. There's a lot to it, though." He gulped the last bite of his brownie, the sprawled on the grass, making himself comfortable. "Where do you want me to start?"

Never one to skip straight to the end, Ororo smiled warmly. "The beginning, of course. How did it come about?"

"Well..." Billy let his gaze wander the sky. "First I talked to you about sex. And then Pam found me when I was having a really shit day with school and training, and she showed me how sex could be great for relaxing. And then I went and talked with Goodnight..." He trailed off. "I tell him everything. What I feel, what I think. He comes to my sessions with the Professor. All of it."

"He's your partner." It was the closest word for it Ororo could find in English.

"Right." Billy was still staring at the clouds. "And then I all of sudden had something I was scared to ask him."

"But you did?" Or had Goody beaten him to the punch?

"Not that part, not right away. Because what if he said no? That would mean I'd ruined everything."

"I'm not sure things could be ruined between you two, not without both of you trying very hard," Ororo pointed out with raised eyebrows.

"Mm." The placeholder sat there while Billy collected his thoughts. "With this, maybe. Goody tries to be everything for me. And if we weren't on the same page with the romance and sex stuff... it would have been weird." Billy half-smiled. "But he'd been kind of lying to me about it anyway, so it all worked out."

"I take it the date went well?" Ororo asked with a grin.

"It was fantastic." Billy snapped back into the moment, his smile becoming full-fledged. "We went camping, and Goodnight read me poetry until it got dark. And once the night started cooling down, we retreated into the tent and talked. And made out. A lot."

Ororo laughed at his conclusion. "That sounds very romantic. No sex with him, then?" Billy had sounded as if he had had a good time with Pam, but that did not mean he was ready to go there with Goody, of course - or Goody, with him.

Billy considered. "What counts as sex?"

Ororo raised her eyebrows, briefly surprised by the question. "Everything that involves genitals? And that is erotic in nature." Would that cover it? She'd never asked herself that question.

"Oh yeah. Sex too, then."

Ororo laughed softly. "How was it?"

Billy chuckled. "Good. Electrifying. And getting better."

Ororo grinned warmly. "Good. I'm glad it's working for you. Both of you." They deserved something good, and from the look on Billy's face, this definitely counted, and then some.

"Goody's been sleeping better at nights, too. I don't think the sex has been that good," Billy added, "but... I don't know. Something's untangled in him, some. If I'd known that would happen, I'd have told him everything I was feeling sooner."

"What matters is you got there," Ororo remarked, her smile more gentle now.

"What matters is it's good for us both," Billy agreed.

Ororo's smile only grew warmer. "I'm happy for you both."

Billy stretched out a bit, turning into the sun. "I wish I could just make things better for him. That place we were at, the facility... it made me weird, but it doesn't still hurt me the way it does Goody and the others. Whatever it took from me, I don't remember. He does."

That sounded very insightful to Ororo, and she took a second to think it over. "I think you are, though. Making things better for him. From what you've told me. You just can't make them completely better all at once. And that's okay. It's gonna take some time."

"Yeah. And we have time here. That's good to know. Good for him too."

Ororo smiled. "I think this is why I belong here, now. This place, what it offers people. It's - good. Very good."
