Kitty and Billy Backdated

Kitty comes to check on Billy after everything and they get to talking. Billy accidentally puts his foot in his mouth, but luckily Kitty forgives!

Kitty had shifted to only one crutch at this point, since she hated the ache in her armpits and it was easier to manage when she was phasing. Getting up to the boy's dorm, at least, was easiest when she was tunneling, but getting down the hall to Billy's room was a bit harder. Still, she didn't care. She hadn't seen much of him (or Illyana for that matter) since the incident in Limbo, and she knew that something, at least, was going on with him. There'd been the whole black-out incident, after all. And Billy...well, he'd seen some difficult stuff in Limbo. Kitty had too - she'd be honest with herself there, but any nightmares she'd had, well, she'd either kept them quiet and to herself, or she'd gone to the Professor about it. He knew better than anyone what her head was like these days.

But Billy...she didn't know how he was dealing with it at all, and with the news of the Brotherhood's terror incident breaking, she was more than a little concerned. Reaching his door, she leaned on the crutch and knocked. Her stomach was a little tender still, but the stitches were out, and her face had healed up. She stood straight and tried to look as healthy as possible.

Billy tapped his pencil against the desk as he thought through how to rephrase the original sentence into Spanish. "Mi perro... está en la habitación....contigua?" He crossed out the words in English and tried to fit them in the right order, but he was having a tough time right now. He jumped a little when he heard the knock on the door, turning to look at it before getting up to answer.

Whoever he had expected it to be, it had not been Kitty and Billy immediately opened the door wider when he saw her. "Kitty!" Billy exclaimed, eyes immediately moving over her to check for anything wrong, refusing to admit that his gaze lingered a little too long on her stomach. "Hey! How're you doing? Come in!"

He ran to get Teddy's desk chair for her to sit in before shutting the door behind her. He knew he was fussing and tried to keep to himself until she got herself settled, knowing that she wasn't delicate and didn't need to deal with his worrying.

Kitty watched him fuss and sighed inwardly. Everyone was doing that these days. Sliding down into the chair, she watched him close the door. “I’m better now, jerk. You don’t have to freak out.”
"Whoa," Billy backed up a little. "Okay, grumpy cat. You sure about that?"

He grabbed his own chair a spun it, so it could face her and sat in it, in able to cross his arms effectively with his own cast. "What's up?"

She slid down in the chair a little and pouted. "Sorry. I came here to find out how you were."

Billy watched her for a minute before relaxing and giving a little smile, scooting his chair closer to her. "I'm okay. Better than I have been the last couple days. Oh, I'm going to need you to sign my new cast, I kind of fried my first one."

He held up his cast and instead of his old white one, it was now a dark red.

Kitty eyed the red cast. "Why does it look like blood?"

"Blood?" Billy squawked, looking down at the color he had thought was pretty cool until Kitty pointed out that lovely little thing. "It doesn't look like blood, it's dark red like...like... damn it. Now you only have me thinking blood."

“That’s because it does!” She pointed out. “Way to go looking all macabre, Hellboy.”
Billy groaned and waved her away, trying not to smile at her comment. "Alright, alright." He let out a small sigh and glanced over at her. "Um, can I ask you something?"

She settled back, frowning at the look on his face. "Okay."

Billy nodded, biting at his bottom lip as he thought about this. "I've been doing better emotionally, but the nightmares...they are getting worse. Have you been having any?"

Kitty glanced down, picking at the seam of her knee brace. She sighed softly. "Don't tell Illyana. I've managed to keep it quiet, okay? I don't want her to know. She's just going to feel worse about what happened."

Billy shook his head. "I haven't really told her much about mine either, I think she kind of guessed though. I keep seeing you...and then losing you."

"Billy..." Kitty sighed softly. "You saved me, you know that."

"I do know that." Billy agreed. "But the. Why in my dreams are you dying? It freaks me out."

He sighed. "What do you dream about?"

"Finding you on the ground after frying all those demons. Belasco torching us all with green fire. Demons hunting me over and over," Kitty sighed. "So yeah. A lot of it freaks me out. But I've been talking to the Professor about them, and he's been helping."

"He has?" Billy frowned a little. "How exactly does he help? You mean by just talking or...by using his powers?"

"Both? Kind of," Kitty said. "I mean, we talk, but he already kind of knows, or can sense, so it's easier somehow."

"So, it's like talking to a shrink who already knows your deepest secrets." Billy leaned and immediately decided that was not for him. He knew more psychiatrists and psychologists than he cared to because of his mom and didn't want to add the founder of his new school to that list.

She rolled her eyes. "Not my deepest." Then she paused, a little uncertain. Did he? "I think."

"Ehhhh..." Billy made an uneasy noise and shook his head. "Yeah, no thanks. I'll just stick with going to the Danger Room if I get too overwhelmed."

Kitty rolled her eyes, but shrugged. "I understand. I mean. You wouldn't want to keep taking down the electrical grid or anything."

Billy flushed at her mentioning his snafu the other day and scratched at his neck in embarrassment. "Eh, yeah. Sorry about that by the way, I apparently messed up two girl’s hair styles that morning, so sorry if I did anything to you."

She just sighed. "I've just been worried about you, is all. I didn't know if the power outage was because of a nightmare, or what."

"Oh." Billy replied and flushed a little. "No, the power outage wasn't a nightmare. I kinda...got into it with Teddy and got mad. I was stupid and let my emotions ramp up my electricity."

"Noooo," Kitty breathed. "Not you and Teddy!"

Billy cringed a little, even if everything had turned out alright in the end, he still hated what he had done and said. "Yeah, I was kind of a huge ass-wipe about stuff to him, but it's okay now. We talked it out and we are better."

He flushed a bit. "Much better."

She raised a brow. "Much better?"

"Erm.."Billy flexed his fingers a little and couldn't help the large grin that was slowly forming on his face. "Yeah, much better. Um, we're kinda a thing now, I guess?"

Kitty stared at him for a moment, and then she began to mirror that grin, her eyes lighting up. "Oh my god. You and Teddy?! What? Come here!" she demanded, holding out her arms for a hug.

Her sudden need to hug him caught him by surprise and he let out a small laugh as he got up from his chair and moved close enough, so she could hug him while sitting. "Yeah. It's still...really weird."

Another squeeze, then she let him go. "Yeah well. Things with Bobby are weird too, so I can't say that's going away anytime soon."

Billy let out a small laugh. "Oh good. Glad to hear that relationships will always be weird." He bit his lip and glanced at her as a small blush appeared on his cheeks. "Can I ask you something...again? Do-erm-Do you or Bobby's powers ever get in the way of things? Like...making out?"

Kitty didn't want to tell him that they didn't do a lot of making out. At least not yet. Well, she hoped soon. "Um. Well, so far it's been my powers that have been the problem?" she suggested. "But maybe that's just a matter of time. Or maybe Bobby's just not that into me?"

Billy frowned at that. "That can't be true, Kit. He's like head-over heels for you. I bet you anything you could ask him to go to Salem for ice cream right now and he would. Don't know how he'd get there, but you get my drift."

She shrugged, but smiled a little at Billy's attempt. "Thanks. But like I said, my powers have been the problem a couple of times, where I forget and we start sinking through things. Like the floor."
"Oh." Billy cringed. "Yeah, I could see how that might dampen the mood. I accidentally shocked Teddy pretty badly when I got to excited during...kissing."

God, that sounded so lame.

"Oh my god, you shocked him?" Kitty covered her mouth to hide the laugh coming on. "Is he okay??"
Billy raised an eyebrow at the look of amusement Kitty's face, but shrugged and shook his head. "Yeah, he's fine. Luckily, his healing power is pretty fast, but he still felt it."

The funny moment was gone, just like that, and she quickly sobered. “Oh god. I’m so sorry.”
At her quick shift to seriousness, Billy let a small smile come to his lips. "It's okay, Kitty. I'm just glad I picked a guy that won't go into cardiac arrest from my powers. Buuut, back to you and Bobby, is there a way you could maybe practice? Like I don't know, training or something?"

He tried really really hard to keep the words sexy training out of his head.

Kitty's expression darkened a little. "Billy Kaplan, are you trying to suggest that I need to train to make out with my boyfriend?"

"Er!" Billy sat up a little straighter, for the first time being a little scared of the small girl across from him, and he quickly tried to explain himself. "I didn't mean it like that! I only meant it as-so Teddy- ugh. Okay, so Teddy brought it up cause I keep shocking him during make outs, so I figured it would help you."

He held up his hands in defense. "I, in no way, meant you need practice in the actual making out part."

She eyed him. "So...Teddy suggested you two practice, and you figured Bobby and I are having the same problem, and you'd suggest the same?"

"Um," He could feel his pits starting to sweat at her look and he inched his roller chair away a slight bit. "Let's pretend that I said nothing? I think that would be an excellent plan."

"Yeah maybe that would be great," Kitty snorted. "But...as for you and Teddy, are you worried about it?"
He felt he could breathe a little easier now that she wasn't looking at him like his next words could be his last and Billy shrugged his shoulders a little. "I mean, he heals so I'm not super worried, but I also don't exactly like causing someone I like pain. I'm just glad my magic seems to be verbal, so I won't accidently turn him into a newt or something."

"I can understand not wanting to cause him pain," Kitty smiled softly. "And I agree on the magic thing. Maybe he's right. Maybe working on it will both improve your control of your abilities and also, you know, make things more comfortable for you."

Billy tried to keep the redness in his cheeks down at the idea and that he was now seriously talking about it with Kitty instead of just offering it as advice. “Ah, yeah. I mean, practice makes perfect right?”

He glanced down at her leg and tried to switch the topic best he could. “How much longer till you’re crutch free?”

"Another week, I think? Then physical therapy until December," she told him, glancing at her leg. "It's not that bad."

“Fun times.” Billy remarked a little sarcastically, though he smiled a little to soften it. “Yeah, I get the cast off in about a week or two, but then I have to move onto to a bulky brace and PT also. Can’t wait to be able to bend my wrist again and scratch my arm with something other than a fork.”

"Worth it though?" she suggested with a small smile. "Yana's got her weapon."

Billy met her gaze and his smile grew. “Absolutely worth it. Hell, I’d go back if it meant helping her kill that guy once and for all. Nightmares be damned.”

“Nightmares,” Kitty echoed as her smile faded. She wished that there was some way to help Billy with that. Clearly he wasn’t interested in going to the Professor.

“Yeah,” Billy replied quietly, then shook his head and pushed all thoughts of Limbo away for now. “I know that’s not real, I mean it’s real, but it’s not here real, and you are very much alive which is what I keep reminding myself every time I wake up. So, it’s just a bad dream that will fade.”

A bad dream that would fade until they needed to go back.

"You think...and don't take this the wrong way you know, for so many reasons. But...you think it would help if I sleep with you a couple of nights?" Kitty asked. "You know, so I'm there?"
Billy blinked and flushed a little. “Erm...well, so thing is, when you share a room with the person you are dating, you tend to share the bed? Three might be crowded?”

The offer was sweet and honestly if he hadn’t been sharing with Teddy he would have taken that offer in a heartbeat. He glanced at her hair, pulled into a ponytail and thought. “But...could I have your hair tie? Something to put on my wrist to know that you, alive real you, gave it to me?”

Kitty flushed slightly at the thought of Billy and Teddy sharing together, but was soon brought out of the thought by Billy's request. She blinked, reaching up to her hair. It was...actually a really great idea, even if it was a little out there. Pulling the tie from her hair made it flop messily around her shoulders, but she ignored it, passing the tie over with a smile. "You've got a part of me wherever you go. We're like partners now, right? I mean, we've been through stuff that most cops would freak at."

Billy smiled as he slid the slightly stretched out simple red hair tie over his hand and onto his wrist, liking how it looked. “Oh, hell yeah. You’re my partner for sure. No matter what, I want you there by my side.”
