Illyana helps Billy with his make-up.

Billy sighed as he sat down in Yana's desk chair, finally having finished getting ready and so thankful Kitty wasn't in the room to witness this. "Okay, so like, no wings or cat eyes or anything like that. I just need help with the upper and lower lids."

Water line. His mind unhelpfully supplied, and he pictured giving his brain a good zap.

"Hey, if you wanted something fancy, you're talking to the wrong person," Illyana pointed out as she sharpened her eyeliner, then came over to where Billy was sitting. "I've only been doing this a few months myself, remember? Tilt your head back."

At that admission Billy stared at the sharpened stick warily before taking a deep breath and deciding that he didn't need his vision anyway. He leaned his head back and silently prayed that he would not get a stick to the eyeball as he felt her get closer. "Trust me, fancy ain't the way I want to go tonight. Just something...different."

Ilyana's eyebrows rose as she leaned in and gently pulled down Billy's lower eyelid. "Does this have anything to do with the stupid crush on the roommate thing?"

Billy had to will his body not to jump or do anything that might cause him to get an eye injury at her question, but that didn't mean he could control the blush that started at his ears and moved down his neck. "Uhhhh....no? No. Like, I seriously just wanted to try it, see if I could pull it off besides when I'm in a play."

If Teddy noticed it, then that was completely on Teddy. "And it's not a crush, I just think he's cute. That's it. Nothing else going on there."

"Hey, you're the one who said it was a stupid crush," Illyana pointed out, grinning at the way he was turning red. More or less deftly (or at least, without poking him in the eye, which Illyana figured was just as good) she traced the eyeliner along his bottom lip, then turned her attention to the top. "He is kinda cute, though," she conceded. "Not my type, but cute."

Luckily, he could close his eyes when Yana did his top lid, so he wouldn't have to look at her face while they talked about this. "God, isn't he?" He sighed wistfully. "He's also just so funny and nice. Too bad he's straight as an arrow."

"Mmmm. Mmhmm." Illyana's attention was pretty much focused on Billy's eyeliner, but she wondered for a split second whether or not that was actually true. There was something...

She dismissed the thought a moment later, though. Billy'd know, right? It wasn't as if she were any kind of expert on the subject. "He's too nice," she said instead, touching up the line she'd just made before pulling back to eye it again. "You can do way better than that."

Billy snorted, careful that it didn't move his head too much and cracked the one eye she wasn't working on open to look at her. "I can do better? Are you joking? He's hot, sweet, nerdy and I'm pretty sure he would LARP if asked the right way. No, I don't think I could do better, but I can try finding that somewhere else."

"I guess?" she replied somewhat awkwardly. Nodding nodded approval of Billy's eye and moved around him to do the other one. "Look up again, huh? And what does LARP mean?"

Billy did as he was told and couldn't help the stupid smile that came on his face from her question. "Uh, okay, but you have to understand I am a huge nerd. Like big one. LARP stands for Live Action Role Playing. Like, you go out in costume and act out stuff."

Illyana's eyebrows climbed and she grinned mischievously as she started tracing his lower lid. "Sounds kinky."

"Oh my god. If you make me laugh while you have something sharp near my eye..." He let his threat trail off, but the smile on his face told her he didn't mean any of it. "And not kinky when you have five others with you, yelling out spells and attacked with styrofoam swords."

"So, basically, you're playing at having my life," Illyana pointed out. "I could make a fortune selling vacations in Limbo. Except I'd recommend real swords."

"Vacations in Limbo?" From what he remembered it was just a lot of dead plants. "How would you market that? Ever wanted to meet a demon? Want to swing a real sword? Come to Limbo! Where all your alternate Dimension dreams can come true!"

"Yeah, pretty much like that." Illyana wrinkled her nose, then smiled. "Maybe it'd show people it's not all a game."

"Ha." Billy huffed and smiled back. "Or roll their eyes and tell us magic isn't real. I never in my life thought that sentence would cause me to want to strangle someone."

"Well, for most people, it isn't," Illyana admitted. She quirked a smile as she outlined his upper lid. "It makes me want to strangle people too, though. Or demonstrate. Import a few demons for them, maybe. Except they'd probably figure it was just all part of one of your LARPs."

"What did I tell you about making me laugh?" He grumbled, doing his best to sound serious even as a smile was permanently there. "Also, unless you know some really good costume making nerds I think your demons would be pretty convincing."

"Well, if nothing else, they'd know once the demons started tearing them apart," Illyana reasoned. She took a step back and eyed Billy critically, then nodded. "Not bad. I'd check you out if I didn't know you."

"Wow. Thanks for that." Billy replied flatly, face deadpanned until he grinned. He turned around to look in the small mirror one of the girls had up and blinked a few times. "You did a really good job. You really only been doing this for a month?"

He resisted the urge to reach up and touch any part of his eye.

"Nah, a couple of months, now." Illyana shrugged. "It's not exactly rocket science." She wrinkled her nose and grinned. "Now if you want mascara? You might want to talk to someone else."

Billy made a face and then laughed. "No thanks. I mean I trust you, but I don't want any more stick shaped object near my eyes tonight. Eyeliner is good enough for me."

"You shouldn't trust me with mascara. I don't even use it on me - I always make it clump." lllyana held out her hand to tug him to his feet. "You need a lift? I've gotta pick up Vex, but you're welcome to come along."

He shook his head after she helped him to his feet, brushing off his pants even though there was nothing on them. "No, I'm going to go with Tommy. Him and me need to figure out a game plan for meeting the maybe other family members tonight."

He cringed a little, then gave her a small smile.

"Oh, that's what the eyeliner and wardrobe assistance are about." Illyana smiled. "You look awesome. And I don't know Wanda at all, but Pietro seems cool. We talked - well, texted - when he stole Pyro's phone to get me to invite people."
"So that's why the invites were coming from you suddenly." Billy grinned. "Here I thought you were just planning some serious party crashing."

"Hardly. I was totally on board with not bring anyone - that was Pyro's suggestion. After the last party?" Illyana rolled her eyes and offered a crooked smile. "But yeah, Pietro overruled it."

Billy made an exaggerated hurt face, lower lip coming out and eyes going wide as his hands moved to cover his heart dramatically. "Not even your best boy? I'm so hurt, Yana. I don't know if I can go now."

"Well, I thought about it, but y'know, kiiiinda looking to go make out with Pyro?" Illyana admitted, grinning. "I didn't figure you'd really want to be there for that."

Billy immediately made a disgusted face. "Ew, please no. I really don't want to be there for that."

"See? I knew that. No reason for you to be hurt." Illyana nodded sagely, then broke down and laughed.

Billy stuck out his tongue, but quickly laughed along with her. "Who all are you taking?"

"Just Vex." Illyana shrugged. "No one else seemed to want a lift. I'm guessing they've heard about the stopover point by now."

"How long is the stop over? It can't be longer than like five minutes, right?"

"I don't think the timing is exactly the issue." Illyana shrugged. "It's cool."

"Well," Billy drawled. "Next out of town party you can count on me going to you for a ride. Limbo wasn't so bad. I liked that I could use my powers there better."

"It's got its good parts," Illyana agreed. "They're kinda overshadowed by the demons, but yeah. You're always welcome."

Billy nodded and took one last look in their mirror before giving Yana a quick squeeze. "Alright, I gotta go. Thanks again for the help, you're the best."

Illyana hugged him back and smiled. "Let me know what happens, hey? And save me a dance or ten."

"For you? Of course." He gave her a quick kiss on the cheek before heading out the door.
