Dorian continues getting lucky at Nolan’s Hampton party.
Loki couldn’t quite place it, but there was something weird about being back at Nolan’s home. He had a vague memory of Shaun’s birthday the year prior and leaving early for Asgard. Something was off, but maybe it was the clash of all the new strangers wandering around. Loki was ready to latch on to a friend and get away from tedious small talk.
Spying around Loki spotted someone that could certainly brighten his mood. He wove his way over and settled a hand on Dorian’s arm. “Hello, stranger.”
Dorian smiled at the familiar voice. There were only a handful of people at the party he was happy to see and this was one of them. “Loki!” He could practically hear heads craning to see Loki, Prince of Asgard, and Dorian Pavus, son of State Senator Halward Pavus, on a first name basis. “Don’t you look handsome. Green is your color.”
“So I’ve been told,” Loki said with a curling smile. “You’re beautiful as always.”
“So I’ve been told,” Dorian echoed with a playful smile. “But, thank you. I won’t admit to how much time I spent trying to decide what to wear. It would ruin the mystique.”
“If you’re ever at a loss, I’d be happy to watch you try on clothing some time.” Loki winked.
“How selfless of you. You truly are a charitable soul, Loki.” Dorian picked up a glass off the tray of a passing waiter and handed it off to Loki, then snagged one for himself as well.
Loki smiled at the thoughtful gesture. "What can I say. You inspire me to give much of myself.”
Dorian smirked at the obvious innuendo in Loki’s statement. “I inspire a lot of people,” he wryly replied. “It’s a gift and a curse.”
Loki arched a brow at that. "A curse, huh? Do you need a quiet escape?"
“Have you seen this party?” Dorian indicated the gathered pride of the Hampton’s with a subtle gesture of his head. “Who wouldn’t need a quiet escape?”
Loki gave the crowd a thoughtful look over and then lifted his hand. Around them the air rippled. He took Dorian's hand. Outside of the ripple in the air two figures walked away in idle conversation, disappearing out of sight. "Well, I don't think we'll be missed. Want to take a stroll with me? No one will see to comment.”
Dorian watched the illusion with interest, then turned his attention onto Loki. “This feels a bit like cheating, so I’m immediately in favor. Where should we go?”
“Somewhere quieter.” Loki smiled. “Unless you think you think you can be quiet yourself.” He winked and started strolling away, beckoning Dorian to follow. He hadn’t quite returned Dorian’s introduction in the library. Lots of flirting, but nothing so bold as Dorian’s opening play.
The evening had suddenly become very interesting. Dorian followed, long legs making easy work of the short distance between them, until he fell into step beside Loki. “Quieter is a broad description. What do you have in mind?”
Loki took Dorian's hand and tugged him off the main path into a nook that would usually be visible to the crowd at large. As they stepped into the space an illusion of shrubbery separated them from the party. From their vantage the shrubbery was translucent, the edge of the illusion from the inside. Unseen by Dorian, exactly where they stood Loki threw up a statue as well, a decoration behind all the bushes. The statue seemed to be the lovechild of winged Nike and an artistic interpretation of Nolan.
Once Loki was sure the details were filled in he held that thought on the back burner and turned as much of his attention as he could to Dorian. “Try not to distract me too badly,” Loki warned. He tugged Dorian closer by his belt and kissed him.
This wasn’t what most people meant when they said someplace quieter. Such a description was usually reserved for an empty room, or a back hallway, the off-limits areas that every party in a house like this had. But, here, they were all but out in the open. The party still went on around them, people undoubtedly passing by it just as he did a few times throughout the course of the party. This was a terrible idea, but Dorian was generally a fan of terrible ideas.
Kissing Loki back, Dorian pressed him against the wall, his hands resting on either side of his waist. He hoped Loki wasn’t too easily distracted, or else this was about to get very interesting.
Loki felt reasonably confident he could do this without dropping concentration on his illusion. Bold enough that he sank into the kiss, fingers sliding along Dorian’s belt.
Dorian just managed to silence a sound of surprise. He’d known this was what Loki wanted, but he’d expected a bit of foreplay. “You’ve gotten bold,” he noted as he threaded his hands into Loki’s hair.
Loki leaned to kiss Dorian’s neck. “You surprised me when we met. It’s only fair I return the favor.” Before he got completely distracted and let the illusion slip.
Combing his fingers through the hair at the nape of Loki’s neck, Dorian tilted his head to expose more skin to Loki’s clever mouth. “Is that what we’re doing?” His free hand rested against the flat of Loki’s stomach and gently pressed him against the wall.
"Dorian," Loki gasped, unable to believably admonish him. "As long as you trust my powers this is absolutely happening. And maybe sometime we can try this without the possibility of anyone walking up around the corner."
So many layers of beautiful clothing, Loki only risked the time it took for minimal disruption. His lips focused on Dorian's throat, fingers on the buckle of his belt.
“Whether I trust them or not is irrelevant,” Dorian replied, grinning as his own hands worked to untuck Loki’s shirt. “I find the risk worth it."
Loki worked his fly open, smiling ruefully against Dorian’s skin. “You really like risk, don’t you?”
Dorian made a sound as if to say he wasn’t going to argue with that, then added, “I like this more.”
Loki pressed another kiss to the crook of Dorian’s throat, grateful it hindered eye contact. There was no reason to let Dorian see how hot his cheeks were at that comment. “Let me elevate your opinion further,” Loki murmured.
