Pike and Grog | May 14th

Pike enlists Grog to start her journey to becoming a MONSTAH.

Pike slowly curled her arm up, flexing her biceps with all her might. Her arm glistened with a light sheen of sweat, a result of the workout she'd just had with Grog. "Do my muscles look bigger yet?"

"Yeah!" It was hard for Grog to not be enthused when he was in the gym, but having Pike there just made everything so much better. He did want to be encouraging in the hopes that she'd stay, but Grog had never been particularly subtle. Pike was used to that, at least. "Biggest ever."

"Aw, thanks, buddy!" Pike beamed up at her bestest bud. "They're gonna be bigger'n yours someday," she said, mostly serious. She was gonna get buff, and no one would hurt her again.

And Grog just nodded as if that were perfectly reasonable. "You'd be a monster. We could have the best fights."

"The absolute best," Pike confirmed. "Have you met any good sparring partners here?"

He shrugged a little. "Usually go against the computer thing. It's good, I don't have to be careful or anything." Grog had at least enough awareness to know that giving his classmates concussions was probably a bad thing. "And I can make it look like anything. It's fun. Ooh, we could try it together."

"Like, anything anything?" Pike was definitely interested. "Like dragons or ghosts or tentacle monsters?" Maybe it was because of her name, but she had always imagined a secret fantasy image of herself in full medieval knight's armor, slaying evil creatures.

"Anything," Grog agreed with a serious nod. He didn't usually have that kind of imagination, he tended to go more for walls or maybe a giant if he was feeling feisty, but it didn't surprise him that Pike did. Pike thought of all kinds of good stuff.

"Awesome." Pike clenched her fists in excitement. "This place has the coolest stuff." She wandered over and placed her hand on his forearm. She had to ask, "But do you like it here?"

"It's okay, I guess." There was only so enthusiastic Grog was going to be about a school. "It's good that everybody's here."

"It is," Pike confirmed with a big grin. "And we're gonna have the best time, just like old times. But have you made any new friends?" She wasn't too concerned if he hadn't, but she couldn't help but want everyone to love Grog.

Grog's face scrunched up a little as he thought about it. "No?" It sounded a little hesitant, like he wasn't sure if that was the correct answer.

Pike's grin became even softer. "They don't know what they're missing, then." She pulled her hand away to punch him lightly (for his standards, a fairly solid punch from her) on the arm. "We'll show 'em how awesome we are in their fancy room, and they'll be dying to know about the two of us."

His expression shifted just a little, like he wasn't sure how to feel. The idea of meeting more people wasn't hugely interesting, but fighting with Pike? That, Grog was all for. "Any time you wanna go, just let me know."

"Whenever you want," Pike promised. "Unless it's dinnertime, which it's gotta be by now, yeah?"

Grog shrugged, unconcerned with it. "Can go check if you wanna."

"I mean, only if you're done," Pike shrugged. The most important part was hanging out with her friend.

"I could be done." Really, he was never done, but if Pike wanted to go then they could go.

"How about we get some grub, wait our thirty minutes, then come back for more?" Pike compromised. After all, she imagined she'd get the itch to start doing something to make herself better able to protect herself by then. "You can show me that fancy room."

Grog frowned, mostly because he wasn't actually sure what thirty minutes would feel like, but he trusted Pike. If she said they should wait, then they would. "Okay, yeah,"

"C'mon, maybe the rest of the gang will be there." Pike snorted, "We can see if we smell bad enough to drive any of them off."
