Kurt comes to a nervous Billy's rescue and asks him to dance. Billy decides its time to get over his dumb crush and try to more forward by kissing Kurt.
Billy sighed as he took a drink of his juice and vodka, his stomach in knots about finally meeting the girl named Wanda. Was this a bad idea? Oh god, of course it was, why had he told Tommy he wanted to do this.
At least I'm not alone. He thought as he glanced over a few of his friends faces and spotted his brother's white hair a few feet away.
Billy looked like he could use a friend. Or, so Kurt thought anyway. He was standing off to the side, looking cute in a red jacket, but he was by himself and glancing around nervously. That wouldn’t do.
Kurt finished off the last of his drink, tossed the empty cup into the trash, and crossed the room to Billy. “Hallo,” he greeted with a friendly smile. “Enjoying the party?”
Billy blinked when suddenly his favorite blue teleporter was next to him and he couldn't help but return Kurt's smile.
"Hey Kurt." He said happily and then gave a small shrug. "It's a great party for sure, I think I'm just a little...umm... I guess nervous would be the right word. I don't know some of these people."
Also, they were brotherhood people as well as whatever the hell Wanda and Pietro were to him and Tommy.
Kurt looked out at the room. Mingled in amongst the familiar faces of his classmates were unfamiliar ones. A boy with white hair, a girl in a red top with red streaks in her hair, a tall boy in a battered brown jacket… All of them strangers and, supposedly, their enemy, but all of them were talking and dancing and drinking with the kids from Xavier’s. “Neither do I, but, if you think about it, they do not know us either. We are on even ground.” He grinned at Billy.
Billy laughed at Kurt's logic and nodded. "Okay, okay. You have a very good point, as always. So, are you enjoying the party? I don't see how someone as social as you couldn't be."
He took a long gulp of his drink and finished it off, the small buzz starting in his body.
“I am having a wonderful time! It is just like something out of the movies!” That was something Kurt found himself saying a lot and he was realizing that movies, for the most part, were all he had for a basis of comparison. Of course, the solution to that was easy—Just live a little.
Kurt offered Billy a hand and said, “Someone who looks as good as you do tonight should be showing it off. On the dance floor, perhaps?” He grinned.
Billy smiled at how excited Kurt was and was at least glad someone was enjoying this cool party without letting nervous destroy them. He felt his cheeks go warm at Kurt's words, but the alcohol in him gave him enough courage to reach out at take the offered hand. "Yeah, sure. Let's go! Sorry if I step on your feet, I got a crash course in dancing at the last party.”
“I am not worried. I think we can handle it.” Kurt lead Billy out onto the dance floor and gently swung him in. It was a slower song which was good since Billy was concerned about stepping on toes. He put his hands-on Billy’s hips and drew him in closer, leaving his grip loose enough so that should the nearness make him uncomfortable he could easily pull away.
"You have too much faith in me." Billy chuckled and wished his cheeks would stop flushing at being this close to a cute guy. Since Kurt's hands were on his hips Billy moved to wrap his around Kurt's neck, smiling at the blue boy as he started to move his feet. "Fun fact. Did you know that studies have shown that dancing helps prevent heart disease?"
What the hell, Kaplan?
Kurt grinned and playfully dipped Billy. “Then we should dance for as long as we can.”
Okay, so being the dip-e was a little scary, but Billy found that he trusted Kurt enough not to drop him and actually laughed instead of flailing for balance. "Until our legs fall off. You're taking dance as an elective right?”
“I am,” Kurt confirmed as he lifted Billy back up. “My mom taught me some when I was little, and I have loved it ever since. I could not pass up the chance to learn more.”
"Your mom taught you?" Billy asked, smiling a little at the endearing thought. "That's pretty cool. My mom tried to teach me once, but I was awful at the waltz, so she taught me the Electric Slide instead. What's your mom like?”
Kurt swayed with Billy, smiling as he thought of his mother. “She is incredible. Kind and so strong. She took me in when I was just a baby even though she was already raising two children on her own. She is a—Ach, what is the phrase? A mother bear?”
"Ahhh. Protective?" Billy asked, liking that he could see Kurt smile so much. It was a really nice smile. "I know a little bit about that. Your mom in the circus? What does she do?”
“She is. She is a fortune teller,” Kurt replied. “I think she was a little disappointed that none of us followed in her footsteps, but she never said it. She always supported us.”
Kurt tilted his head, curious. “What about your parents? What are they like?”
"Well," Billy thought about how best to describe his real parents. "My mom is a psychologist, which sucks cause she really likes to analyze everything you do, and my dad is a cardiologist, but he still sneaks the heart hurting foods now and then."
"What about your siblings?" Billy asked. "Two, right? What did they end up doing if not fortune telling?”
Kurt turned them in a slow circle, moving in easy time to the music. “Jimaine is an acrobat like me, and Stefan is a knife thrower.” He smiled thinking of them, though it went a little sad at the end. He missed them. It was hard being so far from home sometimes. “Do you have any siblings?”
Billy noticed how happy talking about Kurt's siblings seemed to make him and he tilted his head a little in question. "You could ask Yana if she would take you to visit them. I'd ask for you if you wanted."
He tried not to roll his eyes when he thought of his own siblings, Jake and Andy not being anywhere near as cool and Kurt's siblings. "Uhh, yeah, I do. They're kind of the worst, but they are my little brothers, so I think I'm supposed to think that.”
Kurt chuckled and said, “I think everyone with siblings is supposed to think that. It is practically a rule. Perhaps even a law of nature.” He smiled. “And, thank you, but you do not need to do that. Save your favors so you can visit your friends and family.”
"I can visit mine on a bus or in a car, Kurt." Billy reminded him gently. "I also wouldn't mind giving my favor to someone as sweet as you.”
Kurt blushed under his fur and grinned at Billy, pulling him in a little bit closer as he said, “Well, then I would have to find some way to return the favor…”
At being pulled closer, Billy couldn't help the hot flush that started at his cheeks and moved to the back of his neck. Lord, Kurt was smooth. He wondered if it cause he was foreign or because the blue guy was just that good at flirting, either way it had Billy feeling light and nervous. "Ah, well. I could maybe think of something. I mean, if you really gotta pay me back.”
“Have to, perhaps not, but like to? Ja,” Kurt replied, grinning at the blush that was undeniably adorable on Billy. “Dinner, maybe?” He hoped he hadn’t read Billy’s interest wrong and that the request wouldn’t offend.
Billy's eyes widened when he realized what exactly Kurt was saying, and his blush went darker, having to look down at his feet for a moment to think about it. His crush on Teddy was ridiculous and going absolutely nowhere, which hurt, but was true. Also, Kurt was awesome, funny, and really cute, so what exactly what was he so hung up about? He glanced to the side, feeling his heart constrict when he saw the person of his affections dancing with Shen and looking like he was having a blast.
Fuck that. Billy thought and turned his head up to meet Kurt's eyes with a smile. "That actually sounds pretty great. Just let me know when you're free." He hesitated for a moment before blurting out his next question without thinking. "Can I ask you something and you can totally say no if you don't want to?”
Kurt beamed at Billy’s answer. A date! He would be sure to make it one to never forget! “Of course. What is it?”
"Ugh. This is going to sound so weird." Billy gulped and squeezed his eyes shut for a second as his face flamed. He opened his eyes, so he could at least look Kurt in the eye as he asked because he was a man, damn it. "Could I...kiss you? I just- I've never kissed a guy before you are like super cool and nice and really cute and you don't seem to be hating that a dude might want to kiss you?"
Kill him now.
“What gave me away? The calling you cute, or the asking you out on a date?” Kurt teased, his smile playful and flirtatious. “It does not matter. Either way the answer is the same—Yes, I would love to kiss you. More than once, even.”
Billy felt his entire body go red and tried his very best to keep the stupid goofy laugh from escaping, but couldn't help a weird chuckle. Wow, okay. Kurt was okay with kissing, which was way more insane than JM being okay with kissing and Billy could hear his heart in his ears. "O-okay. That is pretty cool. Just a side note, I have only kissed one person before so if this sucks, I'm really sorry.”
“You warned me about dancing too, and my feet have made it through the evening unscathed.” Kurt slid his arm around Billy’s waist and drew him in against him and smiled at him, shamelessly flirting. “I am not worried.”
"Ah, well," Billy laughed a little. "The dancing is all on you, your skill is making it easier for me to not look stupid." He gulped a little at being so close to Kurt and knowing that it was okay to do what he wanted. He pushed up a little and after only a few seconds of hesitation, leaned his face closer and pressed his lips against Kurt's softly.
Kurt cupped Billy's cheek, kissing him back with a gentle sweetness. He kept it like that, slow and soft, letting the nervous tension eek out of Billy's muscles, then angled his head and parted his lips just a little bit against Billy’s.
When he felt Kurt kiss back he had to tell himself not to faint just because a cute boy was kissing him back and he held on for dear life. This was so different compared to kissing JM, the fact that he actually felt something was a big one. The fur around Kurt's lips was actually very soft, like the short downy fur on top of a cat’s head and it was oddly nice. He took a daring leap and let his tongue hesitantly run across Kurt's slightly parted lips, heart hammering against his chest.
Kurt smiled into the kiss and his own tongue slipped out, curling against Billy's. His other arm joined the first around Billy's waist, holding him close but loosely.
Billy shivered a little, pulling away with a large smile and moving to rest his forehead against Kurt’s shoulder. “Okay. So, kissing you? Fantastic and I want to keep doing it. Is that weird?”
He felt giddy, like Kurt’s kiss had jumped him up from mopey tipsy to happy drunk.
Kurt’s grin was huge and he chuckled. “Not weird at all. I would like to keep doing it too.” Who wouldn’t? Billy was sweet and hot and a good kisser, especially for someone who’d never done this before. He lifted his eyebrows and tilted his head away from the dance floor. “Perhaps would could go sit somewhere a little more private?”
Billy almost went a little light headed at the idea of what Kurt was suggesting, but his body was completely into the suggestion. He gave a quick nod, trying not to choke on his words as he let out a nervous chuckle. “Yeah, actually that sounds really great.”
A happy feeling fluttering in his chest, Kurt grinned with a toothy charm and offered his arm to Billy. “Shall we?”
Billy took one last glance back out onto the dance floor, where his roommate wasn’t anywhere to be seen and he told himself right there that was it. He hooked his arm in Kurt’s and gave the blue boy he best smile as he started to pull Kurt away from the floor. “Yes, please.”
Billy sighed as he took a drink of his juice and vodka, his stomach in knots about finally meeting the girl named Wanda. Was this a bad idea? Oh god, of course it was, why had he told Tommy he wanted to do this.
