Pyro and Illyana enjoy the party - and Pyro meets the apprentice!

When she left Pietro and Vex, Illyana headed further inside, glancing around at all the neon decorations absently (and the people - there were already more than she'd expected would come) but looking for Pyro. It didn't take long before she caught sight of him, leaning against his wall and apparently reading something on his phone. Smiling, she headed towards him.

It was exactly one minute later than it had been last time Pyro had checked the time. Ugh, moments like these kind of made him want to take up smoking. Where was she? He slid his phone back into his pocket, looking up at the crowd - and there she was, finally. And looking as good as ever. And smiling, at him, which was still weird. He wasn't used to anyone being so genuinely happy to see him, and it tugged at something inside his lungs, and made his own lips curve into a small smile as he pushed off the wall and held his free hand out to her, the other one holding a beer.

Illyana's smile, if anything, brightened when Pyro held his hand out to her, and she increased her pace, ignoring the way her head was feeling sort of fuzzy at the sight. She was starting to get used to that, and wasn't, all at once, but she was pretty sure she liked it anyway. "Hey," she said softly as she approached, slipping her hand into his. "Miss me?"

"Do you have to ask?" They'd never cared about PDAs before, and he wasn't about to start now, so he leaned in for a kiss, and not a short one. A kiss that very much gave the answer to her question.

"Mmm." For a while, the kiss took definite precedence over answering, and it was only after she pulled back from it (just barely, because she didn't see any actual need to pull away) that she grinned. "If it gets me that as an answer? Definitely."

"That was just a hello." Pyro smirked, definitely happy with the way they were staying in each other's space. "You want a real answer, let's blow this party. I'll show you how much I missed you."

Illyana considered that, then gave him an apologetic look. "I don't want to leave Vex here by herself until Vax and Percy show up. She doesn't know anyone else.". She grinned and leaned in to brush her lips over his. "Later?" She asked hopefully.

"Definitely," he agreed without missing a beat. It couldn't come soon enough, really. "Which one is Vex again?" She'd told him a bit about a few people, but he tended to mix them up.

"Vax's sister," she replied. "You know, the British guy with the cool shadow powers? I picked her up from England so she could surprise him, and left her talking to Pietro about how evil people are who steal your twins." Which was kind of a weird conversation topic, she guessed, but it'd seemed to be working for them. She grinned and wrapped her free arm around him, shifting in closer. "I think that should take time off my grounding. Community service or something."

"Is the grounding still ongoing?" Pyro asked with raised eyebrows, his arm settling easily over her shoulders. It was crazy how quickly he'd grown comfortable with gestures like this. "Hasn't the old man realized how pointless it was by now?" Case in point. "Also, let's get you a drink," he added, stepping towards the kiddie pool. Whatever that was about.

"Well, it might've been over by now, except I screwed up the timing after we went to the diner," she admitted, wrinkling her nose as she slipped her arm around his waist. "I got detention for that one, too. Tommy and I ended up checking the library books against the online catalog. Most boring thing ever."

Pyro winced. "Sorry about that." Sympathy, not apology, obviously. "No more sign of S'ym, by the way?" He couldn't help but be worried about her.

"Nothing so far, but I've been trying to keep trips to Limbo to a minimum." She gave him an apologetic look of her own. "Kinda cuts down on being able to sneak out, though." Which sucked, for obvious reasons that directly involved him.

"We'll take what we can get, right?" Pyro told her with a small smile that was meant to be reassuring. She was in danger; the fact that he couldn't see her as often as he'd like came second.

"For now, anyway." Illyana smiled back and snuggled in against his side. Just because "taking what they could get" sounded as if it pretty much summarized both their lives didn't mean it always would. She had some ideas.

"For now," Pyro echoed, kissing her hair as they reached the fountain. "So, who else is coming?"

"I don't even know?" With some reluctance, she unwound her arm from his waist to go grab a beer for herself. "I did what Pietro suggested and told people to bring a friend. As far as who I invited?" She paused to think. "Vex is here, obviously. Vax. Billy and his roommate. Clarice. Jeanne-Marie." She looked at Pyro and shrugged, offering a half smile. "She wants to talk to you, by the way."

"Great," he muttered, and trashed his empty beer to grab another.

"Just hear her out, okay?" she asked, looking awkward. "I think she wants to apologize."

"Yeah, whatever," Pyro stated, twisting the cap off the bottle to take a drink. He would, too. It didn't mean he had to be happy at the prospect of having to talk with more of the school kids. That had never gone well for him - Magik excepted.

Illyana sighed and twisted the top off her own beer. "I'm sorry. I was just going to come by myself, but then your teammate begged me to bring half the school. What did you want me to do?"

"It's not your fault," Pyro replied with a shake of his head. "They all wanted it." And he wasn't mad at them, either. He was mostly hoping that this would go better - less terribly - than the last party had for him.

"Why?" That was one thing Illyana couldn't figure out. If they knew how badly things had gone at the party at school - and given what had happened, they had to have a pretty good idea - why would they want to invite people from there to another one?

Pyro's jaw worked for a second, before he came out with the simple truth of it. "Because this is what we're about. Mutants, together." And even if he'd gotten metaphorically burned assuming that would be the way of things in her school, too, maybe they could start over, or teach them better, or something. They couldn't all be assholes, no matter what he liked to say when he was blowing things out of proportion. There was Magik, after all.

"And Wanda and Eileen wanted to meet more boys, I think."

"Isn't your team mostly boys?" Illyana grinned a little. "Granted, I got the best one, but there've gotta be a few others." Though she had to admit, six wasn't all that big a pool. She wished someone had mentioned that, though. She wasn't sure how many guys were actually coming.

Pyro snorted softly at her words, and held his hand out to her again, wanting to tug her in close. "Well, Alex is with Fatale, Lance and Pietro are totally not together, nuh-huh, nope, and I mean, they're team, but who would wanna make out with Mort or Freddy?"

"Based on what you've told me? Not me." Illyana wrinkled her nose, then took his hand and smiled, letting him pull her in closer. "Good thing for me I like your fire, huh?"

"Good thing for me, I'm pretty sure," he answered with a smirk, and kissed her. Just because, yeah.

"Maybe for both of us?" she comprised once she finally broke the kiss, then smiled and tugged at his hand. "Come on, introduce me to people? I want to be able to put faces to names."

Pyro made a show of sighing. "Fine. If you insist on actually doing the party thing."

Never mind that he was actually happy to introduce her to the others. It was a little nerve-wracking, but he'd be all right. Magik was too awesome for anything to go wrong, right? Right.

"****************

"Oh, there he is!" Illyana paused, mid-dance, and grabbed hold of Billy's arm to tug him with her. She'd been looking for Pyro, who, predictably enough, was pretty much wherever dancing wasn't. But with any luck, she'd actually found one of her friends who'd not only been willing to dance with her, but who she could introduce to Pyro without causing any kind of inter-team incident.

Or so she was hoping, anyway. "Be cool, okay?" she begged Billy. Because if this was a bust? She was definitely out of luck.

"Yeah okay." Billy replied with a smirk at seeing Yana so nervous. "I'll try to fight against every molecule in my body that screams nerd and try to be cool."

He knew that wasn't what she meant, but it was too fun to pass up teasing her right now.

"Ugh," she groaned. "You know what I mean. Just..." She shook her head as they got within hearing range, and offered Pyro a smile instead. "Hey. Wanted to introduce you to the apprentice. This is Billy. Billy, Pyro."

Pyro's expression relaxed considerably when he was told who it was Magik had brought over. "Hey. You really do kinda look like Wanda."

Manners were not a thing he had, no.

"Ha." Billy let out a very small laugh. "Yeah, I've been getting that a lot tonight. First I look like Tommy and now Wanda. Never just Billy." He paused and cringed. "Sorry, I didn't mean that to sound like that, it was supposed to be funny.... ANYWAY, Pyro, yes?"

"Yeah," Pyro confirmed, glancing at Magik curiously.

"He's nervous," Illyana explained, though she figured that much was probably obvious. "I told him to behave, and he sort of sticks his foot in his mouth naturally." She turned to Billy and grinned. "Anyway, look at it this way - at least no one's asking if you're a demon doppleganger? It's a step up."

He raised his eyebrow at Yana when she oh so lovingly explained his foot-in-mouth syndrome, but let it slide with a gentle shove. "Yeah, okay." He turned back to pyro and held out his hand. "Let's try again, hi I'm Billy I've heard good things about you."

And bad, but that wasn't needed right now.

"You have?" Pyro asked dubiously, and reached out to shake his hand. Handshakes. These school kids could be so weird, and weirdly formal, or whatever.

"Yeah." Billy raised his eyebrows and none too subtly jerked his head in Yana's direction, a grin forming on his face cause he knew how much Yana liked this guy. So, of course he was going to have fun.

"Mage is biased," Pyro replied with a smirk. It might have seemed rude to talk about her in the third person when she was right there, but he was looking at her as he spoke, and the use of her nickname made it clear he was talking to her as much as he was answering Billy.

"Mage has awesome taste, thank you," Illyana supplied smugly.

"Mage just referred to herself in the third person, which is lame." Billy smiled at her, reaching out to tug lightly on a piece of her hair. "But that's okay cause we like her."

Pyro wasn't sure how he felt about anyone but himself calling her Mage, but he figured he shouldn't be calling her that in front of people if he didn't want them to pick up on it. Whatever. "We do, huh?"

"Well, if you don't, this is an awful time to mention it," Illyana pointed out, pulling her hair out of Billy's grasp with a grimace. "And stop that."

"Never." Billy replied, but stopped poking at her and looked over at Pyro. "So, I'm guessing by your name, you have water power?"

Don't be an ass. "Just kidding. Fire is pretty awesome."

"It is kind of the best," Pyro confirmed with a smirk, and a glance at Magik. "And you do magic as well?" he asked the kid. Since, well, apprentice.

Billy screwed up his face and tilted his hand back and forth in a 'sort of' motion. "I guess you would call what I do magic. I more just shock everyone really bad and have random wishes come true, but Yana is trying to help me with that."

"Without much success," Illyana admitted with a crooked smile and a shrug. "His magic just doesn't work like my magic. I need actual ritual to do half the stuff he just does by wishing. It's massively annoying."

Surprise, surprise, his magic sounded closer to Wanda's mutation than anything else. It made Pyro reassess the guy, too. "Sounds powerful."

"Ehhh." Billy didn't like to think of his magic as powerful because it scared the hell out of him. "It's alright. If you ever want your room filled with balloons or random wild animals I'm your guy." He turned to Yana. "And you've helped a lot. Just practicing with you helps a ton."

Illyana rolled her eyes and smiled, but turned to Pyro. "Don't let him fool you. He's definitely powerful. He just has really weird wishes."

Yeah, that sounded completely improbable, but absolutely not impossible. Right up Wanda's alley. "Can you magic me a full beer?" Pyro asked, lifting his nearly empty bottle curiously.

"Uhhhh. I can try." God, he hoped he didn't fuck this up in front of Yana's not-boyfriend and tried to think of the best wording for that so nothing weird or dangerous happened. He held out his hand towards Pyro's bottle and prayed that he didn't somehow turn Pyro into beer or something.

"IwishhehadmorebeerIwishhehadmorebeerIwishhehadmorebeerIwishhehadmorebeer." His hands flowed blue and he winced when he noticed Pyro's bottle starting to fill up with liquid. He rolled his eyes whe n it continued to fill past the rim and overflowed onto the floor at their feet, the smell of the drink a little stronger now.

"God this is some Sorcerer's apprentice shit happening." He grumbled and held out his hand. "IwantyoutostopIwantyoutostopIwantyoutostop." Surprisingly, it did.

"Hey, I've been a sorcerer's apprentice, and I promise, I never did that," Illyana pointed out, trying to look smug, but gave up and laughed, instead. "How's the beer?" she asked Pyro innocently.

Pyro winced, then took a tentative sip. "Same old beer," he stated, then looked at the floor. "And that is such a waste." Did they even have anything to mop it up around? This was going to be some sticky ass patch of floor.

Billy looked down at the floor when Pyro did and grimaced, hoping they didn't have like a deposit on this place or something. "I'd try to clean it up, but I'm worried I'd end up spelling the floor to Peru or something."

He looked back up at Pyro and gave a small shrug. "So, Pyro what do you do in your spare time?"

"Hold that answer and take a step back - I can send it to Limbo," Illyana offered. A little beer wouldn't matter there, any.

"Admire the crazy shit my girl can do?" Pyro offered him with a smirk, even as he stepped aside to let her work. He looked from her to Billy. "And, you know, burn shit."

Billy took a step back to let Yana do her stuff, even though Limbo hadn't been so bad (more just depressing) he had no desire to go there at the moment. "I hear burning shit is all the rage. How hot exactly can you go?"

Illyana's face warmed at Pyro's words, and she closed her eyes to concentrate. Easy enough to send the beer to Limbo, but...his girl. If he wanted crazy shit...

A small portal opened and disappeared as Billy spoke, revealing one of the little, eight legged lizard demons. Who set to work immediately licking up the beer, apparently thinking it was the greatest treat it had ever been given. Maybe it even was.

"Shit, I love those critters," Pyro stated with a smirk, and took a sip of beer, before looking over at Billy. "All the way into blue? Aka really fucking hot." He measured fire temperature in terms of color rather than degrees, yeah. Degrees didn't tell you shit.

Billy jerked a little when they saw an actual creature in Yana's portal instead of just dead plants and he almost missed Pyro's answer to his question because he was staring too much. He blinked a little and forced his head to look up at Pyro to show that he was listening-kinda. "Blue..." Blue fire meant hot, Moron. "Oh. Oh! Wow that's pretty cool. And no other fire can hurt you? Kind of like a Daenerys Targaryen type thing?"

"I have no idea what that means," Illyana complained. She grinned in Pyro's direction, though, and took a bow, while keeping an eye on the demon to make sure the beer didn't have any odd effects on it. It seemed happy enough to be cleaning things up, though, so who was she to argue?

"You have to watch Game of Thrones," Pyro told Magik with raised eyebrows. He could tell Billy how his mutation didn't work like that, how he wasn't fireproof at all, but he might be Magik's apprentice, there were limits to what he would tell one of them. So he shot back with, "I look a lot less pretty naked."

That startled a laugh out of Billy and he quickly tried to cover it with his hand, pressing his palm hard against the grin that was there. When he had himself under control he glanced at Yana with a raised eyebrow. "He's funny too?"

"He's funny too." Grinning smugly, she moved over to wrap her arm through Pyro's and planted a kiss on his cheek, then leaned in and whispered, "And looks damn good naked."

"You're totally biased," Pyro told her on the same tone, and pecked her lips.

Billy smiled at how at ease and happy Yana looked next to Pyro, the guy didn't seem too bad anyway so as long as he made Yana happy, Billy was fine with them. "Well, I think I need to go check and make sure Tommy isn't blowing anything else up. You guys mind me going?"

"Mmmmm, no. Have fun," Illyana replied distractedly with a wave, then realized what he'd actually said and glanced towards him. "Do I want to know what Tommy blew up before now?"

"No, you don't," Pyro told her quietly before Billy could reply. He pressed a kiss to that patch of soft skin at the end of her jaw. "You wanna come find a dark corner with me." Then he looked over at Billy and went on, at a more audible level, and still smirking, "Nice meeting you, Billy."

"Yeah." Billy dramatically grimaced. "I'm for sure going now. Nice to meet you too, Pyro."

With a quick wave he was gone.

"That was maybe rude?" Illyana observed through half lidded eyes, but she didn't seem at all upset about it. Because yeah. A dark corner sounded pretty good. Or... "I saw Vax and Percy earlier. We could bail for a while? If the dark corners are occupied?"

"Even better," Pyro confirmed with a smirk.

Illyana shifted in closer and started to call up a stepping disk. "Preference?"

"Lady's choice," Pyro replied, both arms wrapped around her, one of his hands pulling her hair back from her neck so he could drop some kisses there.

Illyana moaned and arched her neck as the stepping disk flashed around them. Hopefully that hotel room they'd crashed in before would be empty again. It sounded like a really, really good choice.
